'Frosters' cryogenic gloves, gauntlets & suits

Sizes : Small, Medium, Large

'Frosters' range of gloves have been specially developed for the handling of very cold objects. Typically they are used for handling objects stored in the vapour stage of liquid nitrogen (ranging from -120°C to 190°C).

At actual liquid nitrogen temperature there is some stiffening of the material, but it still remains flexible enough for use.

These gloves are also very useful for other situations where low temperatures are an issue such as storage freezers, cold rooms, the handling of 'dry ice' and microtomes.

The 'frosters' range is available in three styles; mid-arm, elbow and shoulder length and in small, medium and large sizes.

Manufactured to European standard EN511

Frosters glove range are made in the UK to meet the requirements of the European Standard EN 407.
The following information applies to these standards.

Gloves can be used under normal climatic conditions.

Gloves can be used upto 5 years after the date of manufacture if stored correctly. Store in original packaging. Store away from direct sunlight to maintain optimum properties.

This glove series satisfies the basic requirements of the PPE directive in being innocuous/free from nuisance factors, ergonomic and breathable. Conditions of use are not simulated by the test results and as such service life cannot be specified. Results should be used for guidance in initial selection.

Gloves are made to EN 420 sizes.

Packaging/Labels: The gloves shall be wrapped in pairs by polymeric packaging. Each packet shall be labelled with the appropriate marking with regards to amount, type, size, manufacturer, performance level and CE mark. Each pair of gloves shall contain labels containing similar details. Each consignment will include an information sheet containing user instructions.

Warning:
Care instructions: In the event of mild contamination, gloves may be rinsed in water and allowed to drip dry in ambient temperatures.

'Frosters' cryo suits have been specially developed to provide protection and comfort while under continuous use in the extreme environment of the cold room.

The special outer layer is waterproof (resistant to condensation) yet remains breathable so as not to become clammy, while the high efficiency insulation reduces excessive bulk and therefore provides greater mobility.

Frosters cryo suits are in two parts, a 'bib and brace' overall and an over jacket. The overalls have long adjustable shoulder straps with Velcro fastening and the waist is elasticated. The jacket has a front central Velcro fastening strip with additional Velcro fastenings on the cuffs and features a useful inside pocket.

Cryo suits are manufactured in the UK from the same material as our frosters range of gloves and offer very similar properties.

The suits are of three layers but the inner layer overall omits the insulating layer above the waist (covered by the overlapping jacket) for comfort and to reduce bulk.

The outer layer of Royal Blue, woven polyamide has a waterproof coating to resist condensed water on cold surfaces yet it remains permeable to water vapour so that there is no clammy condensation inside. However, it should be noted that the stitch holes are not sealed (to reduce bulk) and whilst this could allow liquid ingress, it has not been found a problem in normal use.

The middle layer is of special polyolefin/polyester micro-fibre, which is almost twice as effective in thermal insulation as a similar thickness of 'down'. This minimises heat transfer without being so thick as to be cumbersome. The inner layer is of cotton for comfortable wear.

The jacket has a hanging loop inside the collar, so that they may be hung in a convenient place away from pools of condensation when not in use.

'Frosters' cryogenic Aprons

Frosters Apron

Frosters cryogenic aprons offer the same technology and protection as that of the
Frosters cryogenic gloves. The apron provides optimum protection for torso and
upper legs against the effects of spills and splashes of cryogenic material. The
outer layer of waterproof woven polyamide protects, even at the extremely low
temperature encountered with liquid nitrogen, and yet is breathable. Thermal
insulation is given by a polyolefin/polyester micro-fibre middle layer. The inner
layer is of cotton for comfort. Frosters aprons are fitted with quick release clips at
both neck and waist and our adjustable straps give a comfortable fit.

Medium (1000mm length) – APR/CMM
Large (1200mm length) – APR/CML
Extra Large (1400mm length) – APR/CMXL

Nominal apron width is 620mm

Cryo-Gloves® Water-Resistant

'Standard' gloves no longer available. Wessington now only supply Waterproof cryo gloves

Water-Resistant: The outer shell is a two layer composite material consisting of nylon Taslan® treated with a durable water repellent finish as the outer layer, and a waterproof, breathable membrane bonded to the inner surface that allows water vapor to escape from within the glove, but is impervious to water penetrating from the outside. Although the outer shell material is 100% waterproof, the seams are not sealed in order to maintain maximum flexibility and dexterity. This allows for fluids to penetrate the outer shell through the seams if the glove is immersed in liquid. For this reason the gloves are rated as water repellent.

AVAILABLE SIZES: S, M, L, XL

Cryo-Gloves® are multi layer insulated gloves designed to provide protection to the hands and arms from the hazards encountered when working with ultra cold. They are lightweight, flexible, durable, clean, allow for excellent dexterity, are very comfortable to wear for extended periods, and are extremely warm.

The insulating layers, or inner glove, are the same in both the Water Resistant and Waterproof Cryo-Gloves®. This consists of three layers: two thin layers of insulation material which are bonded together only at the edges of each piece, thereby enabling more insulating air to be trapped without adding additional weight or bulk, and the lining material, which also has a high insulating value, and is specially designed to wick moisture away from the skin.

Cryo-Gloves® 100% Waterproof

100% Waterproof: The outer shell is the same construction as in the water resistant version, followed by an additional component layer between the outer shell and the insulation layers. This consists of a thin, seamless, 100% waterproof inner protective glove, which adds an extra layer of protection with a minimum of added bulk or loss of dexterity.

Cryo-Industrial Gloves 100% Waterproof

Cryo-Industrial Gloves® were designed for use in demanding environments, where durability and high abrasion resistance are required in a cryogenic glove. These gloves offer the same level of protection from ultra cold temperatures as our standard Cryo-Gloves®, in a rugged outer shell.

The outer shell is made from nylon Cordura®, with a 100% waterproof, breathable membrane laminated to the underside. The palm and thumb area is made from an extremely tough and abrasion resistant material made of a nylon Cordura substrate, impregnated with a proprietary polymer-neoprene compound.

The insulating layers, or inner glove, are constructed of three layers: two layers of insulation, and the lining material, which has a high insulating value, and is specially designed to wick moisture away from the skin.

Between the outer shell and the insulating layers is a 100% waterproof, breathable, seamless inner protective glove. This layer acts as a barrier, stopping any moisture that penetrates the outer shell from reaching the insulating layers.

Cryo-Industrial® Gloves are 100% waterproof, and are available in two styles, each featuring a six layer construction.

Safety Training Courses

Wessington are able to offer various training courses to suit a variety of end applications and needs. The course director has over 30 years experience in the production, distribution, transportation, and installation of compressed and ultra-cold low temperature cryogenic gas systems. The Workshops presented are designed to focus the delegates attention via practical and interactive sessions which utilise the experience of course director, gained in industries around the world, in the importance of adopting safe working practices line with Codes of Practice, Guidance Notes, and Legislation.

The workshops are constructed, with this experience in mind, to be solution based, the delegates concentrating their efforts in finding solutions to working safely with gases.
